Man killed in tree crash identified

THE man killed when his car crashed into a tree near Dorking has been named as Stephen George Cserenyecz.

The 50-year-old died after his red Alfa Romeo hit the tree on Blackbrook Road, in Holmwood, on Tuesday at about 10pm.

The road was closed for several hours, reopening at 6am the following morning.

Mr Cserenyecz's death, the third fatality on Dorking’s roads in the past two weeks, sparked shock in the local community.

He was killed within half a mile of where Timothy Crewdson, 17, died after the car he was a front seat passenger in hit a tree in February 2007.

His parents Nick and Barbara and other residents are campaigning to reduce the 40mph speed limit on Blackbrook Road.

“How much blood has got to be spilled on Blackbrook Road before something gets done about it?” Mr Crewdson asked.

Anyone with information on Tuesday’s collision should call the Surrey Police Collision Investigation Unit on 01483 639922.
