In its glory days, the Chiddingfold Club in Woodside Road had 3,000 members and hosted concerts by Eric Clapton and Genesis, plus regular Radio One DJ disco nights. It is still a popular live music venue, but membership has dwindled to 300 and the cash-strapped committee wants to build an enabling development to fund a smaller hall.
