A drama of epic proportions with 14 actors playing 43 characters

TWENTY-FIVE years after the original production, Northern Stage presents the first ever revival of Peter Flannery’s Our Friends in the North, the play which inspired the hit BBC TV series.

A drama of epic proportions with 14 actors playing 43 characters, it is set across 17 years and two continents, and will be appearing at Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre from Wednesday, March 26 to Saturday, March 29.

Told through the stories of four friends, Nicky, Tosker, Mary and Geordie, it is a magnificent chronicle through the changing times of the 1960s and 70s.

Peter Flannery wrote this epic tale back in 1982 when he was the writer in residence at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

The play was adapted for the BBC television series and has been revised again for this new production.

Flannery has been working closely with Northern Stage to look at how the play is relevant to modern audiences and has also written a new ending.

To book tickets call the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre box office on 01483 440000 or visit the website at www.yvonne-arnaud.co.uk.
