New venue for popular youth clubA RUNNYMEDE club for young people aged 11 to 16 is to undergo a facelift, moving to a new venue and a new time due to popular demand.
The X-Pload club, which has been held on Fridays at Addlestone Community Centre since November, will now be run at Addlestone Leisure Centre in School Lane on Saturday nights.
The club provides youngsters with a regular, organised meeting place which does not allow smoking and drinking, and it attracted more than 100 people at the last night in March.
Simon Mount, Youth PCSO for Runnymede, said: “It would have been nice to stay in the community centre as it was a central location for all those who attended and had good transport links, which was ideal for youngsters who lived in the surrounding area.
“However, X-Pload was not the only event to be held in the community centre on a Friday night and we have to take into account the need to accommodate our increasing numbers and this has led to the change in venue.
“The leisure centre has been happy to accommodate us and we are hoping the move will mean the club nights continue to go from strength to strength.”
The next X-Pload club night will now take place between 7pm and 11pm on Saturday, May 24.
Entry is £5 and soft drinks, sweets and glow sticks will be on sale on the night.
