BUSINESSES in Surrey could be competing for glory at an awards ceremony dubbed the Oscars of importing and exporting. The International Trade Awards, created by International Trade Today magazine, will have 12 regional winners from Trade and Investment areas in the UK, one of which will come from the South East. The lucky few will be invited to attend a gala ceremony in early 2009, where the overall UK winner will be announced. International Trade Today publisher Simon Campbell said: “We are aware of the effort that our readers put into their business and the huge contribution they make to the UK economy, but often we feel that international trade is a little unsung. “We have no doubt that within the region there are already, lying in wait as it were, some very worthy winners.” Companies in Surrey can nominate themselves or be nominated by an adviser, and entries must be submitted at www.internationaltradeawards.co.uk by April 18.
